"Aretha Arrives" was released by Aretha Franklin on August 4, 1967, as her eleventh studio album and a follow-up steeped in deep soul, Southern soul, and R&B. Jerry Wexler produced the record for Atlantic Records, with sessions held June 20 to 23, 1967, at Atlantic Studios in New York City. The album yielded the single "Baby I Love You," a million-selling Gold 45 that reached number 1 on the R&B chart and number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, along with a cover of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." Franklin recorded the album while recovering from a shattered elbow injury sustained on a Southern tour, playing piano with her left hand only on certain tracks. The album eventually sold approximately 400,000 copies in the United States, and its track "Prove It" was later sampled by Drake in 2024 for his single "The Heart Part 6."
