"Take It Like You Give It" is an album by Aretha Franklin, released on April 4, 1967, on Columbia Records in the soul and R&B style. The album was produced by Bob Johnston, Bobby Scott, Clyde Otis, and Robert Mersey, and runs about 26 minutes across its track list. Key songs include "Why Was I Born?," "Lee Cross," "Land of Dreams," and the title track "Take It Like You Give It." Two singles were drawn from the sessions, "Tighten Up Your Tie, Button Up Your Jacket (Make It Easy for the Door)" and "Lee Cross." It was the last Columbia album of Franklin's to feature only previously unreleased songs, arriving amid her worsening relations with the label in late 1966 as she prepared to depart for Atlantic Records.
