La Diva is a 1979 disco, R&B, and pop album by Aretha Franklin, released on Atlantic Records on September 6 of that year. Production was shared by Franklin, Charles Kipps, Skip Scarborough, and Van McCoy, with players including Richard Tee, Paul Griffin, Cornell Dupree, and bassist Gordon Edwards. The singles "Ladies Only" and "Half a Love" reached numbers 33 and 65 on the R&B chart respectively, and "It's Gonna Get a Bit Better" was also among the tracks. La Diva became the lowest-charting and poorest-selling album of Franklin's entire Atlantic catalog, and it ended her twelve-year run of nineteen original albums with the label. The record also marked Van McCoy's final production work before his death in June 1979.
