Through the Storm is a 1989 pop, rock, and R&B album by Aretha Franklin, released on Arista Records in May of that year. The record was produced by Narada Michael Walden, Walter Afanasieff, Arif Mardin, Joe Mardin, and Franklin, and it leaned heavily on star duets. The title track paired her with Elton John and reached number 16 on the Hot 100, "It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be" featured Whitney Houston and reached number 41, and "Gimme Your Love" was a duet with James Brown. The Four Tops and Kenny G also appeared on the album, which reached number 55 on the Billboard 200 and number 21 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Despite the high-profile guest list, the album was commercially unsuccessful overall.
