"Amazing Grace" is a gospel double album by Aretha Franklin, released on Atlantic Records on June 1, 1972 and recorded January 13 and 14, 1972 at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Jerry Wexler, Arif Mardin, and Aretha Franklin produced the album, which featured Rev. James Cleveland on vocals, piano, and choir direction, the Southern California Community Choir, and musicians including Cornell Dupree, Bernard Purdie, and Chuck Rainey. The album peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It was certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA, selling over two million copies in the United States, making it Franklin's best selling album and the highest selling live gospel album of all time. "Amazing Grace" earned the 1973 Grammy Award for Best Soul Gospel Performance and was ranked No. 154 on Rolling Stone's 2020 list of the 500 Greatest Albums.
