Sparkle is a 1976 R&B and soul album by Aretha Franklin, released on Atlantic Records on June 1 of that year as the soundtrack to the film of the same name. The entire album was written and produced by Curtis Mayfield, with Phil Upchurch and Gary Thompson on guitars and Lucky Scott on bass. The lead single "Something He Can Feel" topped the Hot Soul Singles chart and reached number 28 on the Hot 100, giving Franklin her only pop Top 40 hit of the late 1970s. The song earned a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Vocal Performance, Female, and the album also featured "Hooked on Your Love" and "Look Into Your Heart." The album reached number 18 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 on the Top R&B Albums chart, was certified Gold for sales above 500,000 copies, and returned Franklin to Gold status after two low-selling releases.
