By the Numbers
Something for Everybody is split between a ballad-heavy first side and an uptempo second side, and Presley wrote none of its twelve songs. Don Robertson was the dominant writer, contributing "There's Always Me" and "Starting Today," while Charlie Rich wrote "I'm Comin' Home." The album reached number one on the Billboard chart in 1961. Steve Sholes produced for RCA Victor, with the Jordanaires and Millie Kirkham on backing vocals.
"Something for Everybody" is a 1961 pop and rock and roll studio album by Elvis Presley, released on RCA Victor as his sixth studio album following his 1960 military discharge. Steve Sholes produced most of the sessions, recorded at Radio Recorders in Hollywood and RCA Studio B in Nashville, with one track, "I Slipped, I Stumbled, I Fell," handled by Urban Thielmann. The album was structured with ballads such as "There's Always Me" and "Give Me the Right" on one side and uptempo material like "I'm Comin' Home" and "I Want You with Me" on the other. It peaked at number 1 on Billboard's Top Pop LPs chart and held that position for three weeks. The Recording Industry Association of America certified it Gold on July 15, 1999.
