Felton Jarvis produced the sessions, which took place February 2 through 7, 1976 in a studio set up inside Presley's Graceland mansion rather than before a live audience, despite the album's "recorded live" billing. The single "Hurt" became a top 10 hit on both the country and adult contemporary charts and reached the pop top 30, while "For the Heart" peaked at number 45 on the country chart. The album reached number 1 on the Billboard country album sales chart and peaked at number 41 on the Billboard 200, marking Presley's fourth country chart-topper in four years. The RIAA certified it Gold on October 10, 1977, underscoring his continued commercial strength in the country market.
