New Morning Songwriting Credits by Bob Dylan

Released October 21, 1970, New Morning arrived just four months after the critically panned Self Portrait, with Bob Johnston receiving production credit alongside Al Kooper on later sessions; all twelve tracks were written by Dylan. Several songs, including "New Morning," "Father of Night," and "Time Passes Slowly", originated from Dylan's collaboration on Archibald MacLeish's play Scratch, lending the album an unusually domestic and introspective character. Musically it marked Dylan's return to his recognizable nasal vocal style, absent since John Wesley Harding, blending country rock and folk influences with a relaxed, home-bound sensibility. The album reached No. 7 in the US and became his sixth UK No. 1, with critics enthusiastically welcoming it as a return to form. Notable musicians on the sessions included George Harrison, Charlie Daniels, and Ron Cornelius.
