All songs are original Dylan compositions, and the double LP was one of rock's first double albums by a major artist, sprawling across complex, extended tracks including the eleven-minute closing epic "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands." The music fuses folk rock, blues rock, and country rock, with critics noting Dylan's unmatched ability to press complex ideas into brief poetic lines and startling images.
