Old Sock is Eric Clapton's 2013 studio album, co-produced with guitarist Doyle Bramhall II and featuring a relaxed, nostalgic mix of covers and originals drawn from early rock, reggae, R&B, and the Great American Songbook. The album includes a duet with J.J. Cale on 'Angel,' the last recording the two made together before Cale's death later that year, and a reading of Peter Tosh's 'Till Your Well Runs Dry.' George Harrison's 'The Art of Dying' is one of several unexpected covers, and Gershwin's 'Our Love Is Here to Stay' brings Clapton into a more explicitly pop-standard mode. 'Gotta Get Over' and 'The Polska' are originals, with 'Gotta Get Over' among the more playful and self-deprecating songs Clapton has written in recent years. Old Sock is an informal and affectionate record, less driven by ambition than by personal connection to the material.
