Back Home is Eric Clapton's 2005 studio album, featuring guest appearances by Steve Winwood (his first studio collaboration with Clapton since Blind Faith) and a mix of originals and covers that span the blues, gospel, and soul traditions Clapton has drawn from throughout his career. The album includes 'Revolution,' a Clapton-Climie original, and 'Back Home,' a joyful return-to-roots statement that gave the album its title. The Steve Winwood duets (including 'Back in the High Life Again,' written by Winwood and Will Jennings) are among the album's most emotionally resonant moments, the two veteran musicians finding easy communion in the studio. A cover of Ray Charles' 'Driftin' Blues' pays tribute to Charles, who had died the previous year. Back Home is a warm and reflective record, less ambitious than Pilgrim but more emotionally grounded.
