Key tracks include "Cold Lonesome Morning," which reached number 53 on the country chart, the Nick Lowe composition "Without Love," which peaked at number 78, and a cover of Steve Goodman and John Prine's "The Twentieth Century Is Almost Over." Robert Christgau graded it B minus and called it an honorable country album with some pretty good songs. Cash later re-recorded "The Twentieth Century Is Almost Over" with the Highwaymen in 1985.
