American VI: Ain't No Grave is a 2010 Americana, country, and gospel album by Johnny Cash, released February 23 posthumously on American Recordings and Lost Highway Records and produced by Rick Rubin. Recorded from May to August 2003 during the final months of Cash's life, the record carries strong spiritual themes across tracks including the title song "Ain't No Grave," Sheryl Crow's "Redemption Day," Kris Kristofferson's "For the Good Times," "Cool Water," and "Aloha Oe." The album debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200 with 54,000 first-week copies and number 2 on the Top Country Albums chart, his third posthumous top-ten US release. It earned Silver certification in the UK and Platinum in Denmark. Critics positioned it as Cash's final artistic statement, describing it as both the grimmest and the most hopeful of his late-career work.
