Hold Me Up was released on Metal Blade on October 16, 1990, recorded in a single month at Trackmaster Audio with Armand John Petri producing alone. John Rzeznik takes over as principal lead singer here and the writing swings toward power pop. 'There You Are' was the band's first single and first music video. Two covers sit among the originals, Prince's 'Never Take the Place of Your Man' and the Plimsouls' 'A Million Miles Away.'
