Dizzy Up the Girl is the band's commercial peak, built around John Rzeznik's writing on the era-defining ballad "Iris," first heard on the City of Angels soundtrack. Rzeznik wrote the run of hit singles, "Iris," "Slide," and "Black Balloon," while Robby Takac contributed a handful of his own songs. Rob Cavallo's polished production helped the album sell over five million copies and earn "Iris" three Grammy nominations.
