One Nite Alone... Songwriting Credits by Prince

Released May 14, 2002, exclusively to NPG Music Club members through NPG Records, One Nite Alone... was the first Prince album never to chart, bypassing traditional retail distribution entirely and remaining inaccessible to the general public for years. Recorded in 2001 at Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minnesota, Prince produced the album and performed all vocals and instruments himself with the exception of drums on two tracks, handled by John Blackwell. The album is an intimate solo piano-and-voice record spanning smooth jazz, acoustic music, and quiet storm genres, with most compositions featuring Prince accompanying himself on piano with minimal additional instrumentation. Prince wrote all original material, with the sole exception being a cover of Joni Mitchell's 'A Case of You' (retitled 'A Case of U') with Mitchell thanked in the liner notes. The Guardian awarded three out of five stars, but the album remained effectively unavailable to the broader public until Tidal made it available for streaming in 2015, followed by a vinyl release in May 2020.
