McCartney III is a solo Paul McCartney album, written entirely by him and recorded at his Hogg Hill Mill studio during the COVID-19 lockdown in early 2020. He played all of the instruments himself, continuing the approach of his earlier one-man albums McCartney (1970) and McCartney II (1980) to complete the trilogy. He produced the record himself, with an archival George Martin production appearing on the closing track.
McCartney III is the twenty-third studio album by Paul McCartney, released in December 2020. Like the original McCartney (1970) and McCartney II (1980), it was entirely self-recorded and self-produced during lockdown, with McCartney playing all instruments. It received strong critical reviews and reached number two on the UK Albums Chart.
