Paul McCartney wrote, performed, and produced every track on McCartney II by himself, recording it at home after Wings stalled. He played all the instruments and leaned heavily into synthesizers and tape experiments, producing an electronic and experimental record far removed from his band work. The lead single Coming Up became a number 1 hit in the US.
McCartney II is the ninth studio album by Paul McCartney, released in May 1980. Like its predecessor McCartney (1970), the album was entirely self-recorded by McCartney at home, with him playing all instruments. It has an experimental, synthesizer-driven character and includes the hit 'Coming in the Air Tonight' stand-in 'Temporary Secretary.'
