By the Numbers
Mended is an interpreter-plus-author record. The default engine is the Sony writing-production team of Cory Rooney and Dan Shea with Kara DioGuardi, who appear on nearly every track, but Anthony carries a co-writing credit on about half the album, so his own name shares the writer column rather than owning it. Where he wrote, the composer field uses his legal birth name, Marco Antonio Muñiz. He is credited as a producer on only one song, the self-produced closer 'Everything You Do'; elsewhere production splits between the Rooney-Shea camp and the Ric Wake and Richie Jones team, who handled 'I've Got You,' 'Tragedy,' and the Spanish 'Te Tengo Aquí.' Mended is the second English-language studio album by Marc Anthony, released May 21, 2002 on Columbia Records and Sony Discos. It is a pop and Latin pop record built around Anthony's voice, with the songwriting and production handled mainly by Sony in-house team Cory Rooney and Dan Shea, working with writer Kara DioGuardi. Anthony co-wrote roughly half the album himself, so his own writing credit sits alongside the Rooney-Shea-DioGuardi core across the ballads and mid-tempo tracks. Ric Wake and Richie Jones produced a separate cluster of songs including the single 'I've Got You' and the Rob Thomas co-write 'Tragedy,' while Anthony produced and arranged the closing English track 'Everything You Do' himself. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, topped the Canadian albums chart, and closes with 'Te Tengo Aquí,' the Spanish version of 'I've Got You.'
