Marc Anthony's catalog is one of the clearest interpreter stories in Latin music. For most of his career he is the voice, not the pen: the salsa records that made his name were written by others, above all the Panamanian songwriter Omar Alfanno, who wrote much of Todo a Su Tiempo and Contra la Corriente, while the ballad album Amar Sin Mentiras was almost entirely Estéfano's work. Whole albums are covers, El Cantante reviving the Héctor Lavoe canon and Iconos the classic Latin ballad, so Anthony writes nothing on them.
