Rob Thomas is an American singer-songwriter and musician born on February 14, 1972, best known as the co-founder and lead vocalist of Matchbox Twenty. As a solo artist he has released six studio albums, beginning with ...Something to Be in 2005. He is among the most commercially successful songwriters of his era, having co-written "Smooth" with Carlos Santana in 1999, a song that spent 12 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and won three Grammy Awards. Thomas writes nearly all of his own material, frequently collaborating with longtime producer Matt Serletic and, on later albums, Gregg Wattenberg and Butch Walker.
