Amar Sin Mentiras is an interpreter's album, not an author's. Marc Anthony is the voice, but the songs belong to Estéfano (the Colombian writer-producer Fabio Salgado), who wrote or co-wrote every original track and produced the entire record. His most frequent partner here is the pianist Julio C. Reyes, who co-wrote and played on much of the album. Marc Anthony earns a writing credit on only two songs, 'Valió la Pena' and 'Nada Personal,' both shared with Estéfano. The one song outside the Estéfano camp is the closer 'Amigo,' a cover of the Roberto Carlos and Erasmo Carlos standard.
Amar Sin Mentiras is a Spanish-language pop studio album by Marc Anthony, released on June 8, 2004 through Sony Discos. It is a ballad-driven record that steps away from the salsa music he was best known for, built almost entirely around the songwriting and production of the Colombian hitmaker Estéfano. Marc Anthony sings across the album but wrote only two of its songs, sharing those credits with Estéfano; the rest of the material came from Estéfano and his writing partners, chiefly the pianist Julio C. Reyes. Recorded at Midnight Blue Studios in Miami, the album leans on lush pop and soft-rock arrangements rather than tropical rhythms. The lead single '¿Ahora Quién?' topped the US Hot Latin Songs chart, and the album reached number one on Billboard's Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts. It went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards in 2005.
