The Story
Matchbox Twenty is an American rock band formed in Orlando, Florida in 1995, fronted by vocalist Rob Thomas. Originally called Matchbox 20, the band broke through with their debut Yourself or Someone Like You in 1996, which produced radio hits including "Push," "3AM," and "Real World" and eventually sold over 12 million copies worldwide. Thomas emerged as one of the era's most commercially successful songwriters, also co-writing "Smooth" with Carlos Santana in 1999. After a hiatus from 2004 to 2007, the band returned and continued recording into the 2020s. Their catalog spans five studio albums across three decades.
