By the Numbers
TIDAL gives a composer for every track and the answer is almost always one name. Brandon Smith wrote thirteen of the fourteen entries, published through his own Dimension Gate Music, and the sole exception on the original material is Hollow, where Chris Yarber returns for a co-write nine years after leaving the band. Celestica belongs to Crystal Castles and is published by Universal-Polygram International, the one track on the record not tied to Smith's company. For a band-era album this is the least shared writing of the five, which reads as the point where The Anix had already become a solo project in everything but name.
Ephemeral closed out The Anix as a band, released by Cleopatra Records on 31 March 2017. Twelve songs and two Several Definitions remixes of Sideways, leaning harder on techno and dance rhythms than anything the band had put out before, and the record went without a supporting tour. Celestica is a Crystal Castles cover. Brandon Smith carried the name on alone from here, signing to FiXT the following year.
