Love Gun is the original lineup's most fully self-written statement: Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley wrote almost everything, Ace Frehley contributed and sang 'Shock Me,' and Peter Criss co-wrote 'Hooligan.' The only outside writing is the closing cover 'Then She Kissed Me,' from the Barry-Greenwich-Spector team, the album's single non-band moment.
Love Gun is the sixth studio album by Kiss, released in June 1977 at the commercial peak of the band's original lineup. Produced by the band with Eddie Kramer, it is notable as the first Kiss album on which all four members sing lead, with Ace Frehley making his lead vocal debut on 'Shock Me.' Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley wrote most of the songs, including the title track and 'Christine Sixteen,' and the album closes with a cover of 'Then She Kissed Me.' A platinum success driven by the anthem 'Love Gun,' it is often cited as the strongest album by the band's founding four-piece.
