By the Numbers
Dressed to Kill is almost entirely the work of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, who wrote every original between them, with Ace Frehley co-writing two and Simmons again pulling in Stephen Coronel on 'She.' The closing 'Rock and Roll All Nite' is a Stanley-Simmons co-write that became the band's defining anthem, the clearest payoff of the founders' songwriting partnership.
Dressed to Kill is the third studio album by Kiss, released in March 1975 and produced by Casablanca Records founder Neil Bogart after the band's first two albums underperformed. Recorded on a tight budget in New York, it has a brighter, leaner sound and closes with 'Rock and Roll All Nite,' which became the band's signature anthem and its first real hit, especially in the live version released later that year. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley wrote nearly all of the album, which also features the early favorite 'C'mon and Love Me.' The record marked the end of the band's early lean years and set up the breakthrough of Alive!
