Amo widens the band's writing credit back out to all five members for most tracks, a shift from the three-name core of the previous two albums. The clearest outside-writing moment is 'Nihilist Blues,' which is built on an interpolation of an Evanescence song and so carries that song's writers, Amy Lee, Terry Balsamo, Tim McCord, and William Hunt, the only track on the album not written by the band alone.
Amo is the sixth studio album by Bring Me the Horizon, released in 2019 and the band's most adventurous record. Self-produced by Oli Sykes and Jordan Fish, it pulls pop, electronic, and experimental sounds into their rock framework, dividing some longtime fans while drawing wide critical praise. The band wrote the bulk of the album as a five-piece, with one track, 'Nihilist Blues,' built on an interpolation of an Evanescence song and featuring Grimes. Other guests include Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth and beatboxer Rahzel. The album gave the band their first UK and Australian number one and reached the US top 10. A genre-blurring statement, it confirmed their reputation as one of rock's most restless acts.
