Data Insight

Suicide Season keeps the band's founding writing model fully intact: Oli Sykes wrote every lyric and the five members wrote all the music together as Bring Me the Horizon. The only outside voices are the two guest features, JJ Peters and Sam Carter, who sing on a track each but the songs themselves remain entirely band-written, with no external songwriters on the record.

Suicide Season is the second studio album by Bring Me the Horizon, released in 2008 and the record that broke them out of the deathcore scene. Working in Sweden with producers Fredrik Nordström and Henrik Udd, the band moved toward a broader metalcore sound with electronic textures, melody, and a more personal lyrical edge from Oli Sykes. He wrote all the lyrics while the band wrote the music together, with guest turns from JJ Peters of Deez Nuts and Sam Carter of Architects. The album reached the UK top 50 and gave the band their first appearance on the US Billboard 200. A 2009 remix companion, Suicide Season: Cut Up!, followed, but the original remains an important turn toward the sound they would keep refining.
