Data Insight

Count Your Blessings shows the band's founding authorship split: Oli Sykes wrote every lyric, while the music is credited to Bring Me the Horizon as a unit, the five founding members writing together. There are no outside writers anywhere on the record, so the whole album sits with the band's own pens, the purest form of their early collective songwriting before any guests or co-writers entered the picture.

Count Your Blessings is the debut studio album by Bring Me the Horizon, released in October 2006 on Visible Noise. It is the band's heaviest record, a raw deathcore set built on Oli Sykes' screamed vocals, breakdown-driven guitars from Lee Malia and Curtis Ward, and the rhythm section of Matt Kean and Matt Nicholls. Sykes wrote all the lyrics while the band wrote the music together, the songwriting model that would define their early years. Recorded with Dan Sprigg, it reached the UK top 100 and built the group a devoted underground following on the back of the opener 'Pray for Plagues.' Later certified silver in the UK, it marks the starting point of one of British rock's most transformed careers.
