Data Insight

Skywriter was assembled by Motown's in-house machine, with Hal Davis and The Corporation producing and arrangements handled by staff including Freddie Perren, Fonce Mizell, Mel Larson, Jerry Marcellino and Gene Page. None of the brothers earned a writing credit despite all five wanting to record their own material. The record leaned on outside material and covers, including 'Corner of the Sky' from the Broadway musical Pippin, 'Touch' (a Supremes song) and 'I Can't Quit Your Love' (a Four Tops song).

Skywriter is the seventh studio album by the Jackson 5, released in March 1973. The group continued to record under the Motown production system with the Corporation songwriting team, though their commercial momentum had somewhat subsided from the heights of their 1969-1971 peak.
