Data Insight

The Jacksons was the group's first album after leaving Motown for Epic, recorded as a joint venture with Philadelphia International Records. Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff wrote and produced most of the record, with additional contributions from Dexter Wansel and McFadden and Whitehead, giving the album its Philadelphia soul sheen. For the first time the brothers were allowed meaningful authorship: Michael Jackson wrote 'Blues Away' and he and Tito wrote 'Style of Life.' Joe Tarsia engineered the sessions at Sigma Sound, with mixing by Tarsia and Jay Mark.

The Jacksons is the debut studio album by The Jacksons (formerly the Jackson 5), released in November 1976 on Epic Records. Following Jermaine Jackson's decision to stay at Motown, Randy Jackson joined the group. The album was produced by Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff of Philadelphia International Records and features the Philly soul sound. It includes 'Enjoy Yourself' and 'Show You the Way to Go.'
