Data Insight

G.I.T.: Get It Together was produced by Motown veteran Hal Davis and pointed the Jackson 5 toward the dance floor, anticipating the disco era. The brothers again wrote nothing; the title track was credited to Hal Davis, Don Fletcher, Berry Gordy, Mel Larson and Jerry Marcellino. The album relied heavily on Motown covers, reworking 'Reflections' (Diana Ross and the Supremes), 'Hum Along and Dance' (the Temptations) and 'You Need Love Like I Do' (Gladys Knight and the Pips). The closing groove fed directly into the breakout hit 'Dancing Machine.'

G.I.T.: Get It Together is the eighth studio album by the Jackson 5, released in September 1973. The album shows a move toward more funk-influenced production and includes the hit 'Get It Together.' It features a slightly more mature and energetic approach than the earlier Motown albums.
