Data Insight

All That I Am is the third album to follow the Supernatural template, again building tracks around guest vocalists and outside songwriters rather than a single band voice. Carlos Santana's guitar threads through contributions from Steven Tyler, Michelle Branch and The Wreckers, Sean Paul, Joss Stone, will.i.am, Big Boi, Mary J. Blige, Los Lonely Boys, and others, with most songs written by their featured collaborators. Producer Clive Davis assembled the project as a star-pairing collection, so authorship shifts track to track and the band's own writing is limited to a handful of cuts such as 'Hermes' and 'Da Tu Amor.' The lead single 'I'm Feeling You' reached number 55 on the Billboard Hot 100, a far softer commercial result than the two albums that preceded it.

All That I Am is the twentieth studio album by Santana, released in 2005 on Arista Records. Continuing the collaborative multi-vocalist format established by Supernatural, the album featured performances from Mary J. Blige, Steven Tyler, will.i.am, Joss Stone, and others alongside Carlos Santana's guitar. "Just Feel Better," featuring Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, became the album's most significant single and received substantial radio airplay. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, making it Santana's first chart-topping album in that position, and confirmed that the Supernatural-era audience remained loyal across a third collaborative record. Carlos Santana's guitar was more showcased on the instrumental passages than on the more pop-oriented vocal tracks, and his compositional contributions gave the album more creative ownership than the Supernatural model might suggest.
