The Blood-Splat Rating System is a fully collective work: all lyrics and all music are credited to Powerman 5000 as a unit, with Spider One as the sole vocalist and frontman. Producer Mudrock (Andrew Murdock), who later produced Disturbed and Godsmack, gave the album a raw, aggressive foundation. The album won three 1995 Boston Phoenix Readers' Poll awards. DreamWorks later reissued it in 1997 under the title Mega!! Kung Fu Radio.
Powerman 5000's debut came out on the Boston independent Conscience in December 1995, sold out its first pressing and took three awards in the 1995 Boston Phoenix Readers' Poll, including Album of the Year. That won the band a DreamWorks deal, and the major label reissued the record in February 1997 as Mega!! Kung Fu Radio. Every song is credited to the five members together.
