Data Insight

Street's Disciple is Nas's sprawling 25-track double album and his last for Columbia, and he writes every verse across it. The themes turn mature and personal, from marriage and family to Black history, capped by "Bridging the Gap," a duet with his father, the jazz musician Olu Dara. Salaam Remi and L.E.S. handle most of the production, but the ambition and the words are all Nas.

"Street's Disciple" is the 2004 seventh studio album by Nas, a sprawling and ambitious hip-hop double album that closed out his ten-year run with Columbia Records. Production was led by Salaam Remi and L.E.S., with additional work from Chucky Thompson, Q-Tip, and Buckwild, plus self-produced tracks. Singles included "Thief's Theme," "Bridging the Gap" with his father Olu Dara, and "Just a Moment," while guests included Kelis, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, and Maxwell. The album debuted at number five on the Billboard 200, sold 232,000 copies in its first week, and became Nas's seventh consecutive platinum record from the RIAA. Its cover art adapted Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper," and it earned a Metacritic score of 80 across 16 reviews.
