Revelation marked the beginning of Journey's partnership with Filipino singer Arnel Pineda, recruited by Neal Schon after he discovered Pineda on YouTube performing Journey covers. Produced by Kevin Shirley and engineered by John Neff, the 105-minute double-disc album features new studio recordings on disc one and re-recorded classic tracks on disc two. It achieved RIAA Platinum certification, the band's first platinum album since Trial by Fire, and exceeded 1 million US copies sold by November 2009. Adult Contemporary singles "After All These Years" and "Where Did I Lose Your Love" charted but none reached the Hot 100.

Revelation is the 2008 studio album by Journey, a hard rock and arena rock record that introduced Filipino lead vocalist Arnel Pineda and was widely praised as a return to form. Pineda sang alongside Neal Schon on guitars, Jonathan Cain on keyboards, Ross Valory on bass, and Deen Castronovo on drums, with Kevin Shirley producing. Singles included "Never Walk Away" and "After All These Years," the latter reaching number 9 on the Adult Contemporary chart, along with "Where Did I Lose Your Love." The album peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200, topped the Independent Albums chart, and remained on the Billboard 200 for 42 weeks. Revelation was certified Platinum by the RIAA in December 2008 for over one million US copies, the band's first Platinum award since 1996's Trial by Fire.
