Frontiers was Journey's commercial follow-up to Escape, with Mike Stone and Kevin Elson returning as producers. The album peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 and reached #6 on the UK Albums Chart, making it the band's best-charting UK release. Four singles reached the Hot 100 top 25: "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" at #8, "Faithfully" at #12, and both "After the Fall" and "Send Her My Love" at #23. The album achieved RIAA 6× Platinum certification. "Faithfully" became one of Journey's most enduring ballads; Classic Rock magazine declared it "the greatest power ballad of all time" in 2008.
Frontiers is the 1983 eighth studio album by Journey, a pop rock, hard rock, and synth-rock record that peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and reached number 6 in the United Kingdom, the band's highest UK placement. Steve Perry sang lead alongside Neal Schon on lead guitar, Jonathan Cain on keyboards, Ross Valory on bass, and Steve Smith on drums, with Mike Stone and Kevin Elson producing at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Four singles reached the top 40, including "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" at number 8, "Faithfully" at number 12, and "After the Fall" and "Send Her My Love" both at number 23. The album earned 6x Platinum certification from the RIAA for six million units in the United States. Frontiers was the band's last album to feature bassist Ross Valory until 1996, and critic Paul Elliott later called "Faithfully" the greatest power ballad of all time.
