Raised on Radio was the last Journey studio album before a decade-long hiatus. Steve Perry served as sole producer, a decision that strained his relationship with the band. The engineering team included Jim Gaines, Mark McKenna, and Steve Rinkoff, with Bob Clearmountain mixing. The album peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 and produced four Hot 100 singles: "Be Good to Yourself" (#9), "I'll Be Alright Without You" (#14), "Girl Can't Help It" (#17), and "Suzanne" (#17). The album received RIAA 2× Platinum certification. Following the supporting tour, Journey went on hiatus until 1996.
Raised on Radio is the 1986 ninth studio album by Journey, an arena rock, hard rock, and soft rock record on Columbia Records produced by lead vocalist Steve Perry. The album featured Neal Schon on guitar and Jonathan Cain on keyboards, with Randy Jackson replacing Ross Valory on bass and drum duties split between Larrie Londin and Steve Smith. Singles included "Be Good to Yourself" at number 9, "I'll Be Alright Without You" at number 14, and "Girl Can't Help It" and "Suzanne" both at number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album peaked at number 4 on the Billboard 200 and was certified 2x Platinum in the United States for two million units, plus Gold in Canada. Raised on Radio was Journey's last record for a decade, until 1996's Trial by Fire.
