Jennifer Lopez built her debut as a producer-driven project, with Cory Rooney co-writing the bulk of the album alongside her and shaping its pop and R&B core. The lead single "If You Had My Love" came from the Rodney Jerkins production team, while Emilio Estefan Jr. and the Estefan camp supplied the album's Latin material including "Let's Get Loud" and "No Me Ames" with Marc Anthony. "Waiting for Tonight," written by Maria Christensen, Michael Garvin and Phil Temple, became the album's dance breakout and its most enduring hit.
