Brave was an English-language pop and R&B record that Jennifer Lopez built with longtime collaborator Cory Rooney alongside a roster of outside producers, including Ryan Tedder, J.R. Rotem and the team Bloodshy & Avant. The lead single "Do It Well," written and produced by Tedder, sampled Eddie Kendricks' 1973 hit "Keep on Truckin'" and gave the album its biggest commercial moment. Lopez takes co-writing credit on much of the material, including "Hold It Don't Drop It," which became a number one dance hit despite missing the Hot 100. The album leans on dance-pop production rather than the Latin elements of her earlier work, and its direction rests largely with Rooney and the producers Lopez assembled.
Brave is Jennifer Lopez's sixth studio album, released October 9, 2007 on Epic Records. Released the same year as Como Ama una Mujer, it was her English-language follow-up and a return to mainstream pop and dance production. Ryan Tedder, then emerging as a songwriter-for-hire, contributed 'Do It Well,' one of the album's standout tracks. Swedish production duo Bloodshy and Avant produced the title track. Lopez holds co-writing credits on five of the twelve tracks.
