A.K.A. is a guest-heavy R&B and pop record that Jennifer Lopez assembled with a wide roster of contemporary producers and writers, including Detail, Chris Brown, Cory Rooney, Benny Medina, DJ Mustard and Max Martin. The album leans on featured rappers across most tracks, with French Montana on the lead single "I Luh Ya Papi" and Pitbull on the eventual hit "Booty." Detail wrote and produced "I Luh Ya Papi," while "Booty" credits a large writing team including Lopez, Chris Brown, Pitbull and Diplo. Lopez co-writes and co-produces much of the material, but the album's direction sits largely with the assembled producers, and it became one of the lower-selling entries in her catalog despite "Booty" reaching platinum status.
A.K.A. is Jennifer Lopez's eighth studio album, released June 17, 2014 on Capitol Records. It marked another label change and a return to high-involvement writing, Lopez holds co-credits on nine of the ten standard tracks, the highest proportion of any album in her career to that point. The album featured an unusually wide range of collaborators including T.I., French Montana, Iggy Azalea, Rick Ross, Nas, and production from Max Martin and DJ Mustard. Despite the commercial guest list, the album underperformed commercially.
