Data Insight

Voodoo Lounge was the first Rolling Stones album recorded after founding bassist Bill Wyman left the band in early 1991, with Darryl Jones brought in to play bass. Produced by Don Was with the Glimmer Twins, every song is a Jagger/Richards composition, including the lead single 'Love Is Strong.' The album won the inaugural Grammy Award for Best Rock Album at the 1995 ceremony, beating nominees including R.E.M., Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. Don Was steered the band toward a rootsier, more traditional sound after the slicker production of the 1980s.

Released July 11, 1994 on Virgin Records, Voodoo Lounge was the first album without Bill Wyman and the first produced by Don Was alongside the Glimmer Twins. The album won the Grammy for Best Rock Album. It includes 'Love Is Strong,' 'You Got Me Rocking,' and 'Sparks Will Fly.' Darryl Jones joined as touring bassist (not an official member).
