Data Insight

Some Girls is the first full Rolling Stones album to feature Ronnie Wood as a settled member, and the band sharpened its writing against the disco and punk currents of 1978, audible in the four-on-the-floor pulse of 'Miss You' and the jagged sneer of 'Respectable' and 'Shattered.' Nine of the ten songs are Jagger/Richards originals produced by the Glimmer Twins; the exception is 'Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me),' a cover of The Temptations track written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong. The album drew a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year, the only Rolling Stones record ever nominated in that category. Chris Kimsey engineered the sessions.

Released June 9, 1978, Some Girls was the band's commercial and critical resurgence amid the punk and disco era. It became their best-selling album at the time, featuring 'Miss You' (a disco-funk crossover hit), 'Beast of Burden,' and 'Shattered.' A leaner, harder-edged record. Includes a cover of the Temptations' 'Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me).'
