By the Numbers
Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 was the English-language half of Shakira's 2005 dual-album project, and she wrote all the lyrics and wrote or co-wrote all of the music. The standout 'Hips Don't Lie' was co-written with Wyclef Jean, who also features on the track and produced it with Jerry Duplessis. Other collaborators included The Matrix, but the writing remained anchored in Shakira's own voice. The reissue added 'Hips Don't Lie,' which became a global number one and reshaped the album's commercial life.
Oral Fixation Vol. 2 is Shakira's seventh studio album and the English-language companion to Fijación Oral Vol. 1, released November 29, 2005. A 2006 reissue added the global smash 'Hips Don't Lie' (featuring Wyclef Jean), which became one of the best-selling singles of all time. 'Don't Bother' was also a significant hit. Shakira co-wrote all tracks. The album sold over 8 million copies worldwide.
