Fijacion Oral, Vol. 1 was Shakira's Spanish-language counterpart to Oral Fixation, Vol. 2, and she wrote all the lyrics and most of the music. The lead single 'La Tortura' was a duet with Alejandro Sanz, who co-wrote it with her. Argentine rock musician Gustavo Cerati co-wrote and contributed to 'Dia Especial,' while Rick Rubin served as executive producer. The album leaned into Latin pop and pop rock and earned Shakira her first Album of the Year win at the Latin Grammys.

Fijación Oral Vol. 1 is Shakira's sixth studio album and the Spanish-language half of a companion pair released in 2005. Released June 3, 2005, it sold over 3 million copies and produced the hit 'La Tortura' featuring Alejandro Sanz. Shakira co-wrote every track. The album won three Grammy Awards including Record of the Year at the Latin Grammys.
