I'm with You was the first Red Hot Chili Peppers studio album to feature Josh Klinghoffer on guitar, replacing John Frusciante, with all songs credited to the four members (Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and Klinghoffer). The band kept its collective writing approach, building tracks from jams with Kiedis writing lyrics over the group's music. Rick Rubin produced, his fifth album with the band. Klinghoffer's textural style gave the record a different guitar character from the Frusciante era.
The first album with Josh Klinghoffer replacing John Frusciante, produced by Rick Rubin. A transitional record marking the end of the classic Frusciante-era lineup.
