The album peaked at number 63 on the Billboard 200 in January 1983 and at number 6 on Billboard's R&B albums chart. Two singles made the Hot 100: "Young Love" at number 64 and "Come Give Your Love to Me" at number 58. Harry Langdon shot the cover in the swimming pool at the Jackson family home, an idea Jackson took from a photograph of Elizabeth Taylor.
