Data Insight
20 Y.O. marks twenty years since Control, and Janet Jackson co-wrote the album with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis while bringing in Jermaine Dupri as executive producer and frequent collaborator. Her songwriting credit runs through every track except 'Call on Me,' with Dupri shaping the album's club-oriented direction. The core writing partnership with Jam and Lewis stays intact even as the production widens.
20 Y.O., released September 26, 2006, was conceived as a twenty-year celebration of the Control album and its themes of independence. The album brought in Jermaine Dupri as a co-producer alongside Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, giving it a slightly different sonic texture than her earlier work. Jackson co-wrote 15 of its 16 tracks, all but 'Call on Me.' The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200.
