By the Numbers
¡Uno! is the first installment of Green Day's 2012 trilogy and a return to short, power-pop-driven songs after the band's rock operas. As always, Billie Joe Armstrong wrote the lyrics with the music credited to Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool, and Rob Cavallo co-produced. The writing is entirely the band's own.
The first of three albums released in a trilogy format in 2012, ¡Uno! was released September 25, 2012. It returns to a more straightforward, energetic pop-punk sound compared to the band's previous two opera-style records. Armstrong wrote all lyrics; Jeff Shadbolt co-wrote the music on 'Carpe Diem', Mirwais Ahmadzaï on 'Kill the DJ', and Chrissie Hynde and James Honeyman-Scott of The Pretenders on 'Loss of Control' via interpolation.
